Custom Electric and Hybrid Powertrains
We have engineered BEV (Battery-all-electric or Hybrid, either Parallel or Series powertrains, which use a REX for new OEMs, existing OEMs and high performance and vintage vehicle customers. We use a Phased Development strategy to analyze customer’s electric or hybrid electric powertrain requirements and present options, this we call our Phase 0; then we build prototype(s), we call this our Phase 1; then low volume production, which we call our Phase 2; then transfer knowledge to customer for local production, we call our Phase 4 – this document summarizes this Phased development.
Typically a complete electric/hybrid powertrain consists of these subsystems:
Drive Subsystem – motor/controller-inverter/gearbox
Energy Storage Subsystem (ESS) – (Battery subsystem)
Power Distribution Unit (PDU) – fusing, power control
VCU or ECU – e-powertrain or vehicle control unit (separate from chassis ECU) – optionally can be included within motor-controller programming
HMI – Human Machine Interface Subsystem – Touchscreen interface to e-powertrain
Accessories Support subsystem – e.g. DC-DC, electric-a/c, e-pto, e-hydraulic, e-brake vac pump, e-pwr steering pump, etc.
Range Extender (REX) – for Series PHEV powertrains – optional
Sound Simulation subsystem – optional
